ABOUT

                      HOWDY

I am a singer and guitarist playing at different venues in Tenerife, where I live.

My repertoire includes different styles like country music, ballads, oldies from the 60s, 70s and 80s, rock & roll, Irish music, etc.

When I came to Tenerife some 20 years ago, I first played in the Buffalo Band, one of the renowned country music acts on the island. I played in that band along with Ray West, Mack Ballantyne and Ricardo.
When the band split Mack and I formed a duo called “Little Joe and Big Mack”, playing in different venues in Playa de Las Americas, the main tourist area in the south.  Afterwards I began my solo career performing in many clubs and restaurants here.

EARLY YEARS
I grew up in southern Ireland, where at the age of eight I began struggling with my first guitar. When I got twelve years old my family moved to America, where I attended the conservatory after school, beginning to work as a professional musician before I was fourteen years old, and continually playing with different rock bands and pop groups during all my teenage years.
Later when I lived in California USA, I got into Country music. I was playing and touring with several bands especially The Wild Mustangs, a well-known country-rock band back then and there. I gathered much experience about music and life – and lots of fun - living in San Francisco for some 10 years and touring all over California, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, etc.
Later I moved to South America where I recorded my own songs with a Sony contract, and achieved some fame in the south of South America. I toured with my own band through Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil. From there I moved to Tenerife in the late 1990's, and here I still am playing music and living of that. Hope to see you around - cheers!
